Wainukaka

The coastline takes a slight eastward turn at Wainukaka, just before the southern shores of Sumba gracefully descend to the enchanting Pantai Pahiwi beach. This geographical feature serves as an advantageous point for capturing the wet season SE swells that roll in during November and December.

In optimal conditions, when it reaches 5 feet with calm winds, there’s potential for excellent right-handers. Unfortunately, such ideal scenarios are infrequent, and more often than not, the surf conditions tend to be messy. Additionally, riders should exercise caution due to the presence of boulders along the route, emphasizing the importance of familiarity with the surroundings.
